The Jurassic World Hero

There is family by blood and then there is family by choice. When I first met Joseph my immediate thought was that he reminded me of my son, Jesse. Joseph has an aura around him. He's gentle, kind, empathetic and polite. It doesn't hurt that he likes my cooking. He just so happens to be on the spectrum too. Joseph embedded himself in my heart.

As soon as he came to our house the other night he had a question. Could he have a Jurassic World shirt with a puzzle piece? He put it on right away. The smile on his face said it all.

Do our children understand the meaning of the puzzle piece? Do they look at the puzzle piece and find insult? There is no easy answer. If a symbol empowers a child to see themselves as a force to be reckoned with than that's what we want.

Joseph, you are an Autism Hero. We will always be in your corner, cheering you on. You're destined for greatness and our door will always be open with baked ziti in the oven. We love you!
